BBAW #3 – How Do You Do Community?

It's Book Blogger Appreciation Week and I want to join the fun!
The world of book blogging has grown enormously and sometimes it can be hard to find a place. Share your tips for finding and keeping community in book blogging despite the hectic demands made on your time and the overwhelming number of blogs out there. If you’re struggling with finding a community, share your concerns and explain what you’re looking for–this is the week to connect!
I'm still new to whole book blogging scene but I would like to tell you a bit my experiences with the community.
When I started this blog 3 months ago, I didn't know any other bloggers. And originally I started to post reviews as an exercise for myself. Relatively fast I realized that this would be a very lonely existence.
While checking out other blogs I discovered this whole book blog universe and I think I'm still not done with this.
One of the first things I did was to take part in a weekly meme. It's fun, you learn a lot about other bloggers and I found so many interesting books that my TBR pile contains now over 200 books. Weekly features are an easy and entertaining way to find unknown book blogs, to interact with bloggers and to gain informations. By now there a few memes I'm very much looking forward every week, such as: Waiting on Wednesday, Top Ten Tuesday (genial), Feature and Follow Friday, In my Mailbox (help keeping overview).
And by joining these community memes I got comments. Oh, what a joy. I was telling friends how great I felt that someone actually liked something I wrote. I feel like this and I;m sure every other blogger feels the same. Therefore I try to leave as much comments on posts I read/liked as possible. Of course sometimes I'm in a rush or I wouldn't be able to say more than: Great review! or well done!, but I still try.
And then I found twitter! Not that I didn't knew about this tool but I had never actively used it. It's the best  media to keep in touch with other bloggers. You get to know about everything on twitter. New posts, giveaways, blog hops, book tours, new features... and so on. And most importantly there is always someone to have a chat with, about books or something else.
Another great part about the book blogger community are giveaways. Everyone loves winning something. And it's even better if you win a book :) It's amazing and great how generous people are. I just finished my first giveaway to give back something and this was so much fun that I want to do immediately again.
I'm sure there are countless other ways to keep in touch with other bloggers and I'm still on my way to discover all this but so far it's a lot of fun! Book bloggers are amazingly generous, friendly and helpful people.

Totally agree with you - memes and TWITTER are great ways to connect with other bloggers. After discovering both (although I don't participate in memes all that much anymore) my connections sky-rocketed.

Best of luck to you!

I love giveaways. Those are my favorites to utilize when I want to increase blog traffic. And participating in events like BBAW has been a great way to meet new bloggers as well.
