Goodreads Summary
The Kingdom of Frewyn is being invaded by the Galleisian infantry and at the forefront of the battle is Boudicca MacDaede, a First Captain in the Frewyn armed forces. Her regiment is charged with defending the borders between the two nations, but when Frewyn’s last line of defense falls, Captain MacDaede enlists the assistance of a Haanta, one of giants from the islands to the far north. Promising to free him from his imprisonment in exchange for his help, she gains his trust long enough for them to win the battle and save the Frewyn border from being breached. The giant’s freedom is granted, but Rautu cannot return home unless he redeems himself in the eyes of his people for his past transgressions. He is offered a place by the captain’s side, and together, they defeat the Galleisian forces and become the saviors of Frewyn.

One year later, King Alasdair Brennin takes the Frewyn throne, Boudicca is made commander, Gallei and Frewyn reach an accord, and Rautu is granted an invitation home. He is eager to return and see his brothers but finds it difficult to leave Frewyn without Boudicca at his side. He has become accustomed to her company and the idea of being made to live without her begins to distress him. Rautu invites the commander to the islands in hopes of finding a way for them to remain together, but when they arrive at the white shores of Sanhedhran, not everything goes as planned: one of the dangerous Haanta magi is freed, Rautu’s three brothers are strangely missing, and the neighboring nation of Thellis leads an attack on the islands.

Together, the commander and the Den Asaan Rautu must find a way to unite their two nations and defend against the Thellisian fleets, but can they do so successfully when outside forces are attempting to keep them apart?

Michelle Franklin is small woman of moderate consequence. I write many, many books about giants, romance, and chocolate. I am the author of many published fantasy stories and the Haanta series.

How/Why did you start writing an online fantasy story?

I began writing it offline, actually. I began writing stories about Boudicca and Rautu and the world of the Two Continents about six-months before I began posting them online. Once I had written five books and a few hundred stories, I began posting them to garner an audience and feedback.

Is fantasy your preferred genre and if so, why or do you write differently set stories as well?

Fantasy has always been my genre of choice ever since my high school principal placed the first book of the Belgariad into my hands and demanded that I read it. I have written some contemporary fantasy, some historical fantasy and some historical romance, but none of these genres do I like so well as high fantasy.

How did you came up with this whole new Haanta-fantasy world?

I have always been in love with giants but I seldom discovered any series involving a benevolent race of them. Any story I have written has always contained at least one giant, but when I began writing about Rautu and his brothers and of Boudicca and Frewyn, I knew an alliance had to be made, and out of their alliance came a series.

Your Haanta-stories are very descriptive and detailed. How can you remember every detail?

I have a ridiculous memory: I can remember what happened in Frewyn ten years ago but I cannot remember what I ate yesterday. I write down every detail as I see them, and once they are written they stick to memory.

What books are in your to-be-read pile?

The complete short stories of Oscar Wilde. There are countless more on the TBR pile, but this one is what's next.

Are you intriged? Interested in reading the beginning of the longest ongoing online romantic fantasy series? Michelle Franklin has offered to give away one ebook of the The Commander and the Den Asaan Rautu Vol.1 and one ebook copy of the Reporter from Marridon novella.
